In 2008, together with its employees and retirees, ExxonMobil, its divisions, and affiliates, and ExxonMobil Foundation provided US$ 225 million in contributions worldwide. Of this contribution, more than US$ 89 million was dedicated to education.

ExxonMobil's management felt that for future technological innovation, a highly skilled workforce in the field of math and science would be required.
